9 Lessons You Learn From Having a Strong Mum

My mum. She would go to the ends of the Earth for me, and I would do the exact same for her.

I have been taught some valuable life lessons from my mum because when you’re raised by a strong, loving, inspiring woman, there is no doubt that these things will, or already have happened to you.

It’s A Sin : Let’s Create an Inclusive World

Despite the loud chaos AIDS brought, the five-part masterpiece of a series, It’s A Sin, reminds us of the silence that it was met with.

Here’s why the series that’s taken the world by storm has been the best 5 hours of TV I have watched in a very long time, but also how It’s A Sin really opens our eyes and allows for reflection on the dangers of misinformation and how vital it is to support others and to create an inclusive world.

Welcome to KA5THLEEN – This is My Journey

In a space that’s so overwhelming, I’m passionate about creating a little area where healing the mind, body, and soul, is at the heart. A platform where I can share with you what I have learnt over the years in the most honest, transparent, and vulnerable way – it’s about time I get super personal with you.

I am 1 in 4 – A Letter to My Younger Self Battling with Depression and Anxiety

I understand you feel as though the world has broken you and has left you shattered and destroyed. I understand you feel completely withdrawn from life. I understand you loathe yourself and the choices you’ve made. I understand you resent the fact you feel forced to live as a shell of who you should be. I understand why you pray to God wanting to know the answer for why you are still living despite your insides feel like they are decaying.

A Year in Counselling – My Experience

I walked into the room unaware of what a counselling session really was. Over the course of the sessions I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression – which I knew very little about then. I just thought it was part of who I was, part of being a shy, quiet person. I understood that everyone has nerves and can get overwhelmed before doing a presentation in front of the class, I simply thought for someone who had experienced so much at once that it was normal. I guess though I wasn’t being completely honest with myself.

Building Bridges and Relationships – Queensferry Crossing Experience

The way in which bridges come about is because someone saw an aspect of living that was difficult and needed improving. They wanted to make things easier and better, so were inspired to change this. It’s the same when it comes to any relationship. When people initially meet, someone wants to start a relationship. Whether it be in the form of friends or potential partners, the motivation and drive was there, and no matter the type of relationship, each requires effort much like any bridge.

The End is in Sight for the Class of 2015

How do we measure the time we have spent in high school? At the start, we measured it in class periods, only dreaming of the day of eventual freedom. As the days and weeks passed, we measure it in terms, and later in years as we moved from being the babies of the school to turning into right typical teenagers who thought they had it all figured out. By the time we reached our senior year, we were prepared to take over the S6 common room and “rule the school”! And now here we stand.

Our rule is over, and it is now up to the class of 2016 to step into our shoes and take over the reigns. I know now that my time will be measured in a much different way…
